On Saturday, two of New York’s hottest bands, Space Bacon and Escaper, will take the stage at the Bowery Ballroom with Microcave, for one of the hottest shows of this freezing winter that has engulfed the Northeast.
Space Bacon’s relationship with New York has been well documented over the years. The city sank its claws into their sound many moons ago. The energy of the Big Apple has etched itself into the bedrock of their foundation. Their personalities reflect their humble beginnings in beer-stained basements and everything that’s happened since that fateful night in the Bronx. As they travel across the country and win new fans in new cities, they will always carry the palpable tenacity and unwavering restlessness of the city that never sleeps.
It’s been two years since they sold The Mercury Lounge and now they’re making their long-awaited return to New York. It finally happens. Although 2021 presented inevitable problems for the live music world, Space Bacon was able to rally and end the year strong with big shows in Denver, Philly and Chicago.
Their sound has continued to evolve and they are excited to bring it back to the heart of their fanbase. Whether you’ve been following them from the start or just jumped the turnstile and sprinted on the train, it’s sure to be a monumental night for Bacon and his fans as Space Bacon takes over the Bowery.
Another well-known band in New York and on the Northeast festival circuit is Escaper. Known for his thoughtful compositions and danceable psychedelic jams. Signed to Ropeadope Records, they released three studio albums to critical acclaim.
Escaper will feature Luke Bemand (lespecial) as special guest bassist and will also be backed by Johnny Butler (Beyonce, Sister Sparrow) on sax. Escaper has hosted past guests among members of The Disco Biscuits, Thievery Corporation, Turkuaz, Cabinet, Rubblebucket, and shared bills with the likes of Karl Denson, Jon Fishman and many more.
Space Bacon and Escaper will be joined by Microcave, a four-room improvisational electronic powerhouse based in the New York area. The group excels at blending electronic music with a wide range of genres including rock, funk, classical, and more, and features members of Tractorbear: A Tribute To The Disco Biscuits and Horizon Wireless.
