SACRED ROSE Festival Shares Inaugural Lineup: Phil Lesh & Friends, Khruangbin, The War on Drugs, Goose and More

Chicago’s newest festival, SACRED ROSE, has announced plans for its inaugural event which will take place at SeatGeek Stadium from August 26-28. The festival aims to immerse fans in The Windy City’s diverse artistic heritage as a hub of jazz, blues and rock-and-roll and has curated an eclectic lineup to that end.

The name SACRED ROSE pays homage to the festival founder’s grandfather, Michael Berg, a professional pianist, as well as to music and the Grateful Dead. The festival will welcome Phil Lesh, founding member of the Grateful Dead, as well as Joe Russo, frontman of the beloved Grateful Dead cover band, to the newly renovated stadiums, seven new astroturf fields and interactive art installations.

SACRED ROSE will host three genre-specific stages, each with a set daily lineup curated, so each stage feels like its own non-stop concert. The fledgling event wants festival-goers or “#RoseBuds” to have the opportunity to truly choose their experience of psych-rock and jambanding at Americana.

“In 2018, when we transformed the North Coast from a multi-genre festival to an all-electronic music event, we started imagining SACRED ROSE and what it could mean for fans of Americana, Psych-rock , Jam, Indie, Soul, Funk and Bluegrass,” Berg said in a press release. “SACRED ROSE is the premier festival of its kind in our region, and we take great pride in providing a special experience for our fans who are waiting patiently programming like this for a long time.”

In addition to Lesh and Russo, SACRED ROSE will host Khruangbin, The War On Drugs, Black Pumas, Umphrey’s McGee, Goose, STS9, Greensky Bluegrass, Kamasi Washington, Animal Collective, Margo Price and many more at their three stages.

SACRED ROSE goes even further with the transparency of its programming by publishing the daily queues and fixed times before tickets go on sale. Details will be revealed Friday, March 18 and tickets for the event go on sale Monday, March 21 at noon CST. Additionally, SACRED ROSE will be selling full weekend and day passes as soon as the market opens.
