Library closed for the parade – The main and secondary libraries at Rodman Public Library will be closed on August 14 for the Greater Alliance Carnation Festival Grand Parade.

Extended hours – Beginning September 7, the Rodman Public Library will extend its hours of operation at its main facilities and branches. On Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, the library will be open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday and Friday will be 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. On Saturdays, the library will be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. In addition, the location of the branch will be open on Sundays from October to April from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Sale of used books – August 7-11 at the Alliance Neighborhood Center. The Friends of Rodman Public Library’s annual used book sale runs through Wednesday at the Alliance Neighborhood Center, 405 S. Linden Ave. The sale will take place from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday to Wednesday. On Wednesdays only, customers will be able to fill a bag and donate throughout the day.

Teen Writing Club – 3:30 p.m. Wednesday. Teen Writing Club meets on the second and fourth Wednesdays in the main library computer lab. Meet other teenage authors to exchange ideas, hone your skills, and share your work. TECH time – 11 am Thursday. Every Thursday from 11 a.m. to noon, a librarian will be on hand to answer basic questions about your electronic devices, such as iPhone and Android devices, laptops and tablets.

Games for teens – 3 p.m. Thursday. 12-18 year olds are invited every other Thursday to play their favorite video games on Xbox One, Xbox 360 with Kinect, Playstation 3 and 4, Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Wii and WiiU. Games with grades ranging from “E” for everyone to “T” for the adolescent level will be offered. IPad and Nook are also available. For more information, call the library at 330-821-2665, ext. 214.

Chipotle Fundraiser – 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on August 16. Friends of the Rodman Public Library will benefit patrons eating at Chipotle, 1630 E. State St. Those who wish to help should pick up a leaflet available at the library, or show it on their smartphone, or tell the cashier they are attending. fundraising so the group receives 33 percent of the day’s proceeds. Those who order online can enter the code MTV7XF7 before checking out in the ‘promo’ field.

Books and coffee – 10:30 a.m. on August 19. The Books and Coffee Club meets every third Thursday of the month at the library branch. The title chosen for the month of August is “Clock Dance” by Anne Tyler. Teenage Murder Mystery – 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. on August 19. 12 to 18 year olds can play detective. Based on the classic Clue board game, participants will visit different rooms in the library, where staff members will play one of Clue’s iconic characters. Teens will solve puzzles to receive clues that lead them to the identity of the murderer. The teens will not play characters and will only be looking to solve the mystery.
