Canadian DJ and producer Simon Doty returns to Anjunadeep with the Hometown EP and dropped its title track streaming today!

There is something in the air in Canada that has allowed the country to produce some of the most unique artists in the dance music scene. Maybe it’s the fresh air, the stunning landscapes or maybe the cold winter nights, but whatever the cause, it’s always a pleasure to hear the sounds coming from the brilliant producers of this scene. One of these artists is Simon Doty, who continues to impress with every release – and now he’s announced his return to Anjunadeep This year.

Having already delivered a few immersive releases on Anjunadeep in the past, Simon Doty’s growing fan base should be thrilled to hear that his forthcoming EP, Hometown, will land on the label on February 4. Paired with the news comes the release’s lead single and title track, “Hometown», which invites listeners to join him and the singer-songwriter Ursula Rucker on a trip to home paradise.

“Hometown” is filled with soothing sounds that will warm your soul as the bassline rolls on and the piano notes kick in. Ursula Rucker’s vocals also add a sense of nostalgia to the ride, making of this song a song that will keep everyone moving until the wee hours of the morning. Additional tracks that are to be officially released when the Hometown EP releases next month include “lay me down” with a sensational artist Ark, as well as two solo titles, “Solstice” and “trance tool.”

I’ve always been a big fan of Ursula Rucker’s voice, she’s behind some really iconic tracks and I’ve always wanted to try and do something with her voice. I did Hometown in my hometown of Calgary in January 2020, and chose this title to reflect my favorite line from his voice; “I hear at home in this bass”. His voice has so much soul and impact that many of the current voices we hear in electronic music lack it. I’m very honored to work with an artist who has been such a big personal inspiration to me, and I feel extremely lucky to release this song with Ursula.
